Cheese Manufacturer
Largest Cheddar and Italian cheese maker in the state of Wisconsin with annual revenues in excess of $300,000,000. The company was organized as a Co-op where the owners were the dairy farmers that were also the largest suppliers of raw materials. A&JC was engaged to review the company’s pricing and purchasing practices in order to determine the reason for significant operating losses that were being incurred by the Company. While working with management, A&JC was able to either reduce or eliminate certain premiums paid to the dairy farmers providing milk. During the course of the engagement, A&JC also assisted the company with planning and executing a RIF (reduction in force) to reduce operating costs.
Through the rolling 13 week forecast A&JC could better monitor performance on a weekly basis. Subsequent operating reports indicated that the Company went from losing money to making money through more disciplined pricing and purchasing practices. The reversal of operating losses led to a refinance with a new lender that provided the company with more availability at improved rates.
